Those were the words of Duane Chapman , star of the hit show Dog the Bounty Hunter which is showcased on A&E. A&E has suspended production on its hit reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter in light of these remarks which were made during a phone conversation with his son Tucker, a recording of which was duly posted online by the National Enquirer.
Duane Chapman, the Bounty Hunter, has since tried to make amends for his use of the word but as an African-American, one whose ancestors were subjected to verbal, mental and physical abuse for centuries, does not accept his phony apology. Someone so brazen enough to know he uses the word and that is a despicable slur and still chose to use it. The audacity to try to have his son break up with his black girlfriend in fear that she would alert the tabloids of his vile language.
It's not until his show is canceled that he decides his language was inappropriate and hurtful to millions of blacks, many undoubtedly fans.
That kind of behavior is not accepted and should not be accepted by anyone. Socialist or not.

Listening to this tape was SO interesting sociologically because Dog clearly understands the dangers of his mindset and yet he perceives himself and those around him as incapable of changing. He is clearly delineating that he does not intend to and will not change his way of seeing and addressing people of color, BUT he doesn't want to suffer the consequences. So the answer, of course, is to get rid of anybody who might shine a light on this. The scariest part, though, is that the show ran just fine until this happened, even though I'm sure that, as Nicholas writes, it was apparent from the beginning where these folks were coming from. I accidently caught a minute on some conservative talk radio show the other night with some guy ranting about "the liberal hordes" causing trouble in the U.S. these days. I'm sure Dog's being suspended would be described by that radio personality as an example of just what he was ranting about. Ugly stuff...
He claims that he doesn't use the word in a derogatory sense--that he was worried about being misunderstood--but if you know the language is offensive, why do you use it? Oh, because you're a racist!
I agree with Nathan's comments. I hate his show--and all the other victim-bashing programs like it.
